Drywall & sheet calculator
Calculate wall and ceiling area, then compare sheet sizes and material allowances.
Measure your project
Add separate sections for irregular spaces. Avoid overlaps. Use 10.5 ft for 10 ft 6 in.
Match your material
Use your plan, product label or supplier’s specifications.

Understand the number
How this estimate works
Net surface area × (1 + allowance ÷ 100), divided by sheet width × sheet length, rounded up to whole sheets. This is an area estimate; seams, orientation and cuts can change the final count.
Count surfaces, not rooms alone
Add each wall and ceiling that will receive board. A room’s floor area can represent its ceiling, but it does not include the walls. If both faces of a partition need drywall, enter both faces. Keep surfaces requiring different board thicknesses or types in separate estimates.
Review the hanging layout
A square-foot total is a starting point. Sheet length, seam locations, access through doors and the possibility of reusing offcuts affect the order. Small openings may not reduce the number of sheets you need. Joint compound, tape, screws, corner bead, primer and delivery are separate line items. Confirm any fire, moisture or acoustic assembly requirements with the project professional.
